Before joining UNIFY Solutions, Shane worked as a Software Engineer at Touchmark from 2003 to 2005. Prior to that, they were a Software Engineer at MXL Consolidated in 2002. Shane also worked as a Software Developer at ACTEW Corporation Ltd. from 1999 to 2001 and as a Radio Engineer at Telstra in 1999.

Shane Day attended Phillip College from 1993 to 1994. Shane then went on to study Computer Engineering at the University of Wollongong, where they received their Bachelor's degree (Hon I) from 1995 to 1998.
