James Thewlis

James Thewlis has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. James is currently the co-founder and CTO of Unitary, a position they have held since June 2019. Prior to that, they were a LD12 Cohort Member at Entrepreneur First from March 2019 to August 2019. James also worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Oxford from February 2019 to May 2019.

Before joining Oxford, James worked as a Research Assistant at Facebook AI Research/PRO Unlimited from August 2018 to November 2018. Prior to that, they worked as a Consultant for Mirriad during their DPhil, where they applied and developed deep learning techniques related to Mirriad's data from 2016 to 2017. James also worked at Mirriad as a Machine Learning and Computer Vision Specialist from 2013 to 2014 and as a Computer Vision Developer (Internship) in 2012.

James Thewlis completed their MEng in Computing from Imperial College London in 2013. From 2014 to 2019, they pursued a DPhil degree in AIMS CDT and Visual Geometry Group from the University of Oxford under the supervision of Andrea Vedaldi.
