Romulo Pontual

Romulo Pontual is a seasoned technology executive with extensive experience in leadership roles across various organizations. Currently serving as a Board Member at Universal Electronics since July 2022, Romulo chairs the Product Strategies and Innovations Committee and is also a member of the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee. In addition, Romulo has been a Technology Advisor at Pontual Group since September 2015. Previous positions include Board Member at Greenwave Systems Inc (2016 - May 2019), Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at DIRECTV (January 2004 - August 2015), and Executive Vice President of Television Platforms at News Corp (August 1996 - January 2004). Earlier in the career, Romulo held the role of Head of Engineering Department at SES Satellites (January 1988 - August 1996) and Engineering Manager at Embratel (1983 - 1988). Romulo holds a YMP in Business Administration and Management from INSEAD (1994), a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on Telecommunications from Universidade Federal Fluminense (1978 - 1982), and additional studies at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1985 - 1987).
