Joe Randall is an experienced quantum hardware lead and engineer currently at Universal Quantum since November 2021. Prior to this role, Joe worked as a postdoctoral researcher at QuTech from October 2017 to October 2021, focusing on quantum computing, quantum sensing, and quantum simulation using NV centres in diamond under the guidance of Tim Taminiau. Joe also held a postdoctoral position at the University of Sussex in 2016 and completed a PhD in quantum computing with trapped ions at Imperial College London from September 2012 to March 2016, funded by EPSRC through the Controlled Quantum Dynamics Centre for Doctoral Training, with a thesis titled "High-Fidelity Entanglement of Trapped Ions using Long-Wavelength Radiation." Joe holds an MRes in Controlled Quantum Dynamics from Imperial College London and an MPhys in Physics from the University of Sussex.
