Raphael Chanay

Raphael Chanay is an experienced museum professional with a robust background in exhibition development and interpretation. From March 2019 to February 2025, Raphael served as Chef de département projets muséologiques and Directeur des expositions at Universcience. Prior roles include Head of Exhibition Projects and Interpretation at Imperial War Museums and a variety of positions at Science Museum, including Explainer, Content Developer, and Family Programmes Developer. Raphael's work is marked by a strong emphasis on audience participation and collaboration with diverse communities, notably in curating sections of exhibitions like "Who am I?" and gathering objects from Cameroonian communities for the "Information Age" exhibit. Educational qualifications include a BA in Political Science, History, and Sociology from Sciences Po Grenoble, a year studying Anthropology and Japanese at Waseda University, and an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester. Currently, Raphael is a member of the Annual Conference Program Committee at Ecsite.
