Robert Mitchell

Robert Mitchell is a seasoned security professional with extensive experience in various high-profile roles. Currently serving as Principal Security Engineer at Buildkite since August 2025, Mitchell leads the Security function and is focused on enabling developer innovation. As a CISO Advisory Board Member for Unusual Ventures since December 2022, advisory contributions are made to early-stage IT Security startups. Previous positions include Cyber Security Lead at Big Picture Medical, Security Leader at Canva, and Head of Security at Deputy, among others. Education includes a Foundation degree from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Wollongong, complemented by professional certifications such as CISSP from ISC2 and various credentials from Check Point.
