Nic Cope

Nic Cope has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Nic currently works at Upbound as a Senior Principal Software Engineer, where they are in charge of technology steering and works closely with product and engineering leadership. Previously, at the same company, they held the position of Principal Software Architect, where they contributed to defining company-level strategy and roadmaps. Before joining Upbound, Nic worked at the Crossplane project as a Steering Committee Member.

Prior to their current roles, Nic served as a Staff Software Engineer at Planet, where they led the development of the multi-cluster Kubernetes architecture. Nic also contributed to various open-source projects related to Kubernetes. At OfferUp, Nic was a Senior Site Reliability Engineer and played a key role in designing and building a deployment and orchestration platform using Kubernetes. Nic also developed tooling in Go.

Nic has also worked at Spotify as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, where they contributed to maintaining and extending the container orchestration framework, Helios. Additionally, they led efforts to automate the management of Spotify's fleet of machines. At Google, Nic worked as a Site Reliability Engineer, focused on internal AAA systems and RADIUS infrastructure. Nic also worked as an I.T. Field Technician, supporting Google employees with technology needs.

Nic's earlier experience includes a role at Secure Systems Ltd as a Test and Support Consultant, where they conducted functionality and vulnerability testing on security products and provided client support. Nic also had responsibilities as a network administrator and undertook technical projects.
