Matthias Held

Matthias Held currently serves as the Public Affairs Director for Germany at UPM - The Biofore Company, a position held since September 2021. Prior to this role, Matthias Held was a Board Member at Bioenergy Europe from November 2018 to November 2021 and the Managing Director of the German Woodenergy Association from September 2018 to September 2021. Earlier experience includes the role of Referent Energiepolitik at Bundesverband Bioenergie from August 2015 to September 2018 and Referent Energierecht at Bundesverband Kraft-Wärme-Kopplung e.V. from July 2013 to September 2015. Matthias Held also worked as an Avocat at Allen & Overy between August 2011 and June 2013 and as a Jurist at DSM Avocats à la Cour from October 2008 to July 2011. Educational qualifications include a Staatsexamen in Rechtswissenschaften from the University of Potsdam, a Management degree from Andreas Hermes Akademie, and degrees in law from Université Paris Nanterre, including a master's degree in international and European law and a bachelor's degree in law.
