Mitch Ellison

Bioinformatics Scientist

Mitch Ellison is an experienced Bioinformatics Scientist currently working at UPMC since September 2020, focusing on monitoring clinical NGS genotyping and overseeing bioinformatic analyses in the Histocompatibility Lab. Concurrently, Mitch serves as a Bioinformatics Consultant at the University of Pittsburgh, assisting students and staff, and has held various roles including Pre Doctoral Fellow and Graduate Student Researcher, contributing to cutting-edge research in transcription and epigenetics. Prior experience includes roles at Ariel Precision Medicine as a Genomic Bioinformatics Scientist and consultant, and as an Assistant Researcher at USDA-ARS, where Mitch developed qPCR assays for plant pathogen detection. Academically, Mitch holds a Ph.D. in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master's Degree in Biotechnology with a concentration in Bioinformatics from The Johns Hopkins University.
