Nam Tran

Nam Tran is a Professor of Pathology and Associate Dean for Biobanking at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, bringing over a decade of experience as a laboratory director. Currently, Nam serves as the Medical Director for Point-of-Care Testing at UPMC and as the Senior Technical Director of AI Operations at the University’s Computational Pathology and AI Center of Excellence. Previously, Nam held leadership roles at UC Davis Health, where they significantly contributed to the SARS-CoV-2 testing infrastructure during the COVID-19 pandemic and were involved in several high-impact research initiatives. Notably, Nam co-founded the UC Davis Center for Diagnostic Innovation and co-invented the Machine Intelligence Learning Optimizer (MILO), advancing the field of clinical diagnostics and artificial intelligence.
