Robert Tessler is a Colorectal Surgeon at UPMC and the VA Pittsburgh Health System, as well as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Previously, Robert completed a Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship at the University of Minnesota and served as a Senior Fellow/Trainee at the Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center. Their clinical work focuses on benign and malignant diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus, including robotic colon resections. Robert has conducted health services and public health research with an emphasis on vulnerable populations, health equity, and trauma-informed care. They hold an M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco, and a Bachelor's degree in Music Theory and Composition from New York University.
