Carla Bond is the founder and CEO of Upskill VR, a company that creates immersive virtual reality experiences for training and education. Carla is also a veteran of the US Navy, where they served as a law enforcement specialist and hospital corpsman.
Bond began their career in 2002 when they enlisted in the Navy. Carla served for eight years, including two deployments to the Middle East. After their discharge, they worked as an EMT and operations manager at the Washington D.C. Veterans Affairs Medical Center. It was during this time that they first became interested in virtual reality and its potential to help people learn new skills.
In 2017, Bond founded Upskill VR with the goal of using virtual reality to provide affordable, accessible training for people of all backgrounds. The company has since created a number of virtual reality experiences for both businesses and individuals.
Carla Bond has a degree in Women's Entrepreneurship from Cornell University. Carla also has a degree in Game Art and Development from Southern New Hampshire University. In addition, they have a degree in Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management from FEMA Emergency Management Institute and Maryland Emergency Management Agency. Carla is also certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support Instructor from Health & Safety Institute (HSI).
