Nat Hoopes

Nat Hoopes currently serves as Vice President - Head of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs at Upstart since September 2020. Prior to this role, Nat was the Executive Director at the American Fintech Council from September 2016 to September 2020, where responsibilities included being the founding Executive Director of the Marketplace Lending Association. Additional experience includes positions as Executive Director and VP of Public Policy and Government Relations at The Financial Services Forum, VP of Government Relations at Fix the Debt Campaign, and Legislative Director and Assistant for United States Senators Scott P. Brown and Joseph Lieberman respectively. Nat began a career in finance as an Analyst at Trilantic Capital Partners, formerly Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking Partners. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in History from Princeton University, a Master of Arts in International Relations and Affairs from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, and attendance at Phillips Exeter Academy and Friends Academy.
