Sourav Sen

Sourav Sen is a Senior Research Scientist on the ML team at Upstart since January 2021. Previously, Sourav served as a Doctoral Researcher at Duke University from August 2013 to December 2020, where a significant achievement included the development of a neural network for detecting rare particle physics signatures, resulting in a 15% increase in efficiency. Sourav also held the position of Graduate Teaching Assistant, instructing courses in General Physics and Experimental Physics. Earlier experience includes a summer internship at DESY, contributing to the HiSCORE project through FPGA programming and PMT calibration. Sourav holds a Ph.D. in Experimental High Energy Physics from Duke University and a BS-MS dual degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata.
