Thijs Essens

Thijs Essens is a seasoned analytics professional currently serving as Senior Manager of Analytics Engineering at Upstart since July 2023, leading a team of five and establishing long-term strategic directions. Prior experience includes critical roles at Instagram as Senior Data Engineer and Tech Lead, where impactful contributions were made to data architecture and cost reductions in advertising pipelines. Thijs's robust background extends to Google, encompassing various positions such as Senior Business Intelligence Analyst and Financial Analyst, where expertise in data organization and reporting significantly enhanced visibility and insights within the Finance organization. Earlier experiences were gained at J.P. Morgan and KPMG in investment banking and corporate finance advisory. Thijs holds an MSc in Finance & Investments and a BSc in International Business Administration from Rotterdam School of Management, supplemented by international study experiences.
