Mike Burns

Mike Burns has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and responsibilities. Mike is currently employed at Upstatement, where they hold the position of Chief Technology Officer, a role they assumed in November 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Technology Director at Upstatement from July 2017 to December 2022. Before joining Upstatement, Mike worked as a Senior Engineer at the same company from July 2015 to July 2017.

Mike's earlier experience includes working at Boston University as a Lead Web Developer from August 2014 to July 2015. In this role, they led the development of web-based applications, assisted in project planning and application testing, and provided technical oversight and mentorship.

Before their Lead Web Developer position, Mike worked as a Web Developer III at Boston University from July 2013 to August 2014. Their responsibilities included developing and supporting custom applications and integrations for various platforms, writing project specifications, and collaborating with designers and UI/UX team members.

Mike's career began at Boston University IS&T, where they worked as a Web Developer II from July 2011 to 2013. In this role, they maintained the WordPress CMS back-end, developed custom themes and plugins, and created and maintained custom web applications.

Prior to their work in the field of technology, Mike had experience in the arts industry. Mike served as an Assistant Production Manager and House Audio Engineer at the Modlin Center for the Arts at the University of Richmond from July 2008 to July 2011. In this role, they handled production duties for performing arts events and managed IT and AV requirements for university and external events. Before this, they worked as a Production Associate and Audio Specialist at the same institution from July 2007 to July 2008.

Mike Burns earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Technology from New York University, where they studied from 2002 to 2006.
