Mark Botticelli is the CTO at Uptake. Mark has also previously worked as the Executive Vice President and CTO at PeopleNet, Rolling Strong, Lowcodeminds, and BEASY - Blockchain Made Easy, LLC.
At PeopleNet, Mark was responsible for the company's global technology vision, innovation strategy, and product delivery across wireless communications, enterprise software, mobile software, embedded software, firmware, hardware (IoT), corporate infrastructure, hybrid cloud hosting, quality assurance, DevOps, cyber-security, automation, and integration. Mark helped evolve the engineering staff from 150 to 350 employees and managed a budget in excess of $50MM. Mark also moved the company to Agile/Scrum processes and techniques and established user-centered design as a first-principle of product development.
Some of Mark's notable accomplishments at PeopleNet include respinning the onboard computer and intelligent display hardware several times to increase quality, capability and decrease BOM cost; moving from 2G to 4G/5G; scaling and evolving the SaaS platform to handle over 500k trucks from 90k while moving away from a monolithic architecture to a loosely-coupled, microservices architecture; moving from a proprietary mobile communication platform to standard IoT Gateway using MQTT as the messaging protocol; and moving from a homegrown monolithic .net mobile framework to Xamarin then ultimately Kotlin. Mark also established Data Governance and implemented an Enterprise Data Warehouse to enable better data visualizations and predictive/prescriptive analytics.
