Gus Torres

Gus Torres has a long and accomplished career in the digital space. Gus began their career in 1990 as a Senior Animator, Illustrator, and User Interface Designer at Computer Curriculum Corporation (now Pearson Digital Learning Solutions). In 1997, they moved to Dataware Technologies as Creative Director and Database Interface Designer. Gus then joined @Once (now Yesmail) in 2000 as Creative Director and Email Specialist. In 2001, they joined AlloyRed (formerly Rosen/Brown Direct) as Senior Art Director. In 2002, they worked as an Interactive Design Consultant and Web Designer at Mercy Corps. From 1998 to 2005, they served as an Adjunct Instructor at The Art Institute of Portland, teaching Digital Media and Animation. From 2005 to 2010, they served as an Adjunct Instructor at Clark College, teaching HTML/CSS and Web Design. Finally, from 2006 to 2010, they were Creative Director and UI/UX Designer at OCP (Oregon Catholic Press). During their career, they have managed creative teams, conceptualized and prototyped UI/UX designs, developed workflows, designed and coded email campaigns, initiated course redesigns, developed coursework for web design and development certifications, created HTML/CSS templates, initiated and completed major corporate-wide rebrandings, instructed a variety of media courses, advised and guided college seniors on portfolio development, and produced successful high-visibility campaigns.

Gus Torres obtained a B.S. in Graphic Design, Illustration Concentration from San Jose State University. In August 2019, they were awarded a Membership Certificate from the Interaction Design Foundation. Additionally, they have obtained an Introduction to the Canvas LMS for Faculty from WashingtonOnline.
