John Melton

Research Psychologist

John Melton is an accomplished professional in the field of psychology and military research, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences since July 2020. With extensive experience as the Director of the Human Research Protection Program at the Navy Bureau of Medicine since April 2017 and as a Research Psychologist for the US Navy since September 2002, John Melton has made significant contributions to the understanding of behavior in extreme environments. Previous roles include Director at the Office of Naval Research, Program Manager at the Naval War College, and Deputy Technical Director at the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory. John Melton holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University Chicago, a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology from Grand Valley State University. Additionally, John Melton is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Alabama since 2013.
