Barry Mael has extensive work experience in the field of synagogue affiliations and operations. Barry started their career in 2002 at USCJ, where they held various positions including Senior Director in Kehilla Affiliations & Operations. In 2008, they joined the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism as the Chief Development Officer. Barry later became the Chief Resource Development & Marketing Officer in 2010 until 2012. Barry then moved to the United Synagogue, where they served as the Director of Kehilla Affiliations & Operations. During their tenure, they successfully managed the USCJ dues committee, consulted with congregations on various financial and budget-related issues, and worked on projects such as JCLP and BlessedMemory.
Barry Mael attended Yeshiva University from 1975 to 1979, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. Barry then pursued further education at the same university from 1979 to 1982 and received a Master of Social Work degree with a focus on group work.
