UsherKids Australia is a parent-led peer support organisation focused on supporting children and young people with Usher syndrome and their families. Usher syndrome is a genetic condition that causes congenital deafness, deteriorating vision loss, and vestibular dysfunction. The condition poses significant obstacles to communication, education, socialisation, mobility, employment, and independent living. The organisation has established targeted parent programs, educational workshops and professional development that strive to improve the quality of life and future prospects of children and young people with Usher syndrome across Australia.
UsherKids Australia’s mission is to empower the Usher community through support, connection and knowledge, while our purpose is to see families, children and young people living with Usher syndrome love their lives.
