Edwin Gump

Vice President, Small Molecules at U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention

Edwin Gump has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Edwin currently holds the position of Vice President, Small Molecules at US Pharmacopeia, where they manage the Chemical Information group and leads a team of Scientific Liaisons. Prior to this role, Edwin worked as the Senior Director, Chemical Medicines at US Pharmacopeia.

Before joining US Pharmacopeia, Edwin held various roles at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals. Edwin served as the Senior Associate Director and Head of Laboratory, where they managed a GMP product development laboratory and represented the department on R&D project teams. Edwin also led a drug product analysis group as the Senior Associate Director and Senior Principal Scientist, providing technical leadership and representing the group in senior departmental management meetings. Edwin started their career at Boehringer Ingelheim as a Principal Scientist and later became a Senior Scientist, specializing in HPLC/chromatographic method development and drug product testing.

Throughout their career, Edwin has demonstrated expertise in GMP analytical testing, method development/validation, drug product characterization, and regulatory submission. Edwin has also managed CRO operations and authored/reviewed protocols, technical reports, and SOPs.

Dr. Edwin Gump earned a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of California, Riverside, from 1991 to 1998. Prior to that, they obtained a B.S. in Chemistry from UC Santa Barbara, spanning the years 1987 to 1991.
