Director, Biologics Portfolio Management at U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention

Jérôme Jacques has a strong background in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry. Jérôme currently holds the position of Director, Biologics Portfolio Management at US Pharmacopeia, a role they have held since May 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Lonza: A Global Leader In Life Sciences for seven years, starting in January 2014. During their time there, they served as a Senior Scientist and led a team in the media R&D department, focusing on the development and improvement of serum-free, chemically defined medium for the vaccine and gene therapy manufacturing industry. Jérôme also oversaw the development of cell culture medium for the production of AAV and Lentivirus, as well as other vaccine vectors. Additionally, they implemented and optimized upstream process development for AAV and other viral vector production and led the scale-up manufacturing process for cell culture medium.

Before joining Lonza, Jérôme worked at the FDA as a Research Fellow from October 2008 to January 2014. Prior to that, they worked at the Virology laboratory EA-3798/IFR-53. As a PhD student from September 2005 to April 2008, they conducted research in virology, and prior to that, they worked as a Research Associate from September 2003 to September 2005.

Jérôme Jacques Ph.D, MBA has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne, which was obtained from 2000 to 2003. Jérôme then pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology at the same institution from 2003 to 2005. Subsequently, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology at Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne from 2005 to 2008. Recently, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of Maryland - Robert H. Smith School of Business from 2016 to 2019.
