Stan Burhans

SVP Operations & CFO at U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention

Stan Burhans is USP’s SVP of Operations and Chief Financial Officer—working closely with the organization’s Board of Trustees, Executive Team, and CEO to grow USP’s public health impact and relevance worldwide. In this leadership role, he oversees the organization’s Finance, Information Services, Quality and Compliance, Facilities, and Distribution groups.

Mr. Burhans brings demonstrated international business operations and financial leadership experience in the public health space to USP—having served in various capacities at Mead Johnson Nutrition Company (MJN) and Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) during a 23-year tenure. Most recently, Mr. Burhans was Vice President Finance, Global Commercial Operations, at MJN—where he also served as Corporate Controller, Corporate Treasurer, and played a leading role in the company’s initial public offering and spin-off from BMS in 2009. Previously, Mr. Burhans held several pharmaceutical finance director roles at BMS—including posts in the United States, Germany, and Japan.

Mr. Burhans holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance and International Business from Columbia Business School, and began his career as a Certified Public Accountant and auditor with Deloitte in New York.
