Bumsuk Won

Bumsuk Won is a highly experienced professional in the field of electrical engineering and patent examination. Currently serving as a Supervisory Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office since June 2005, Bumsuk oversees patent examiners and previously supervised Patent Reexamination Specialists. Prior experience includes roles as Principal/Senior Engineer at Torrington Research, where design software for electrical motion systems was developed, and Senior Engineer at Electromech Technologies, managing software development for a motor design/simulation program. Earlier positions included Senior Engineer at Goodrich Aerospace, where Bumsuk led the transition to brushless DC motors, and Electrical Engineer at Black & Decker, focused on developing predictive mathematical models for power tools. Bumsuk also contributed as a Motor Design Engineer at Danaher Motion, designing motors for the aerospace and defense sectors. Academic qualifications include a JD from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, an MSEE from The University of Texas at Austin, and a BSEE from Hongik University.
