Katy Halmen

Katy Halmen is an accomplished attorney specializing in intellectual property law with extensive experience in both government and private sectors. Currently serving as an Attorney at the USPTO since May 2023, Katy previously held the position of Global Co Head of Intellectual Property and IP Counsel at Lenzing Group from November 2020 to May 2023. In that role, Katy managed trademark matters across the Americas, EU, and MENA regions, focusing on enforcement, licensing, and marketing law. Prior to this, Katy spent nearly 15 years at the USPTO in various capacities, including Senior Supervisory Attorney and Trademark Attorney. Educational qualifications include an LLM in International Intellectual Property Law from the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center and a JD from St. Mary's University School of Law, complemented by a BBA in Marketing and International Business from Texas A&M University.
