Michael Kim has extensive experience in the field of patent law, currently serving as Vice Chief Administrative Patent Judge at the USPTO since September 2008. Prior roles at the USPTO include Lead Administrative Patent Judge and Administrative Patent Judge. Michael began a career in patent law as a Patent Attorney at Finnegan Henderson from October 2002 to July 2007 and briefly worked as a Patent Attorney at McGinn IP in mid-2008. Earlier legal experience includes summer associate positions at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati and Banner & Witcoff, Ltd. Michael holds a Juris Doctor degree from Duke University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, alongside a high school diploma from Winston Churchill High School.
