Roane Noel

Roane Noel is currently the Division Chief at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where they lead efforts to update rules and systems related to U.S. biotech patent prosecution and manage the USPTO Sequence Help Desk. In addition, Roane serves on a task force focused on updating articles of the Patent Cooperation Treaty and collaborates with the National Institutes of Health. Prior to their role at USPTO, Roane worked as a Patent Agent at Oliff PLC and Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, and served as CEO of Utah Genius. Roane holds a Master’s degree from the University of Utah and a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from Brigham Young University.
