Kathryn Ackerman

Kathryn (Kate) Ackerman, MD, MPH, FACSM, serves as the Director at the Women’s Health, Sports & Performance (WHSP) Institute since June 2025 and has been the Chair of the Medical Commission at USRowing since February 2021. As a sports endocrine researcher in the Neuroendocrine Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital since July 2009, Kathryn focuses on Female Athlete, RED-S, and bone health research. Kathryn founded and directed the Female Athlete Program at Boston Children's Hospital from July 2006 to June 2025 and worked as a primary care sports medicine physician. Prior experience includes serving as an endocrinologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital from July 2007 to June 2011 and completing residency training in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from July 2004 to July 2006. Kathryn holds an MPH in Quantitative Methods from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and an MD from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, complemented by a BA in Government/Biology from Cornell University.
