Donovan Thomson

Donovan Thomson has a diverse range of work experience in product management and software engineering. Donovan currently holds the position of Head Of Product - Platform at Utility Warehouse, where they lead a team of product managers to deliver capabilities that enable the company's services teams to operate effectively and provide customer satisfaction. Prior to this role, they worked at Zappi, where they served as a Senior Product Manager for Flexible Research Products and Integrations, as well as a Product Manager for the Analytics Platform. During their time at Zappi, Donovan was responsible for refining the value proposition, sales enablement, and operational processes for various product offerings, as well as managing a platform product roadmap and making tradeoffs to scale up usage. Donovan also had previous experience as a Software Engineer in the core analysis platform team, focusing on optimizing performance and utilizing technologies such as Ruby/Ruby on Rails, Python, PANDAS, MySql, InfluxDB, and React. Earlier in their career, Donovan worked as a Java Developer at BSG, following agile and TDD methodologies.

Donovan Thomson completed a BSC Computer Science degree in Business Computing at the University of Cape Town from 2009 to 2011. Donovan then pursued further studies in Computer Science and obtained a BSC Honours degree from the same institution in 2012 and 2013. In 2018, Donovan received certification as a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) from agile42.
