Sofie Vertriest

Sofie Vertriest has been a prominent figure in the field of physical and rehabilitation medicine since joining UZ Gent in September 2005, where Sofie currently serves as the Head of the Polytraumata, Burns and Amputations section while also engaging in research, pre-professional rehabilitation, insurance medicine, and medico-legal expertise. Sofie has been a PhD candidate at Ghent University since March 2011, focusing on load-bearing exercises for transfemoral amputees with osseointegrated implants, under the supervision of notable professionals such as Laurent Frossard and Pascal Coorevits. Sofie’s extensive educational background includes a range of degrees from Ghent University and KU Leuven, covering topics from Medicine to Insurance Medicine and Hospital Policies, complemented by specialized training and internships in rehabilitation.
