Patrick De Boever

Director of Research & Valorization

Patrick De Boever is an experienced professional in microbial ecology, innovation management, and education, with an extensive career in both academic and industrial settings. Patrick began as a PhD student at Ghent University from January 1997 to December 2000, focusing on gut flora dynamics and probiotics. Subsequent roles include post-doctoral researcher at the University of Antwerp and project manager at VITO, leading initiatives in cleantech and medical applications. Patrick served as a lecturer at Hasselt University, teaching biomedical students about environmental impacts on health, and later held positions as a scientist/group leader at the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre and as Director of Research & Valorization at UZA. Currently, Patrick works as a Senior Innovation Manager at Perseus, focusing on biologicals and legal compliance related to biodiversity. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences and an MSE in Organic Chemistry and Industrial Microbiology from Ghent University.
