Alyson Smith, PhD, is a dedicated cell biologist and registered patent agent who currently works as a scientist and scientific writer at Vala Sciences, where they craft scientific publications and collaborate on image analysis projects. They have contributed to various platforms as a science writer since 2015, leveraging their expertise to engage a wide audience. Previously, Alyson earned their PhD at The Scripps Research Institute, presenting research on nonmuscle myosin IIA and its impact on red blood cells while also mentoring aspiring scientists. Their early research experience included identifying genomic factors related to bone length in threespine sticklebacks as an undergraduate.
