Joel Cortez possesses extensive experience in water resources engineering, beginning with a role as an Analista Ambiental at SUPRAM-CM from March 2008 to March 2010. Following this, Joel worked as an Engenheiro de Recursos Hídricos at Pimenta de Avila Consultoria from April 2010 to August 2017, and subsequently served as a Senior Hydrologist (Engenheiro Hidrólogo Sênior) at TRACTEBEL - Brasil until May 2019. Currently, Joel is employed as an Engenheiro Hídrico at Vale since May 2019. Educational qualifications include a graduação in Engenharia Hídrica from Universidade Federal de Itajubá (1999-2007) and a Master’s degree in Saneamento, Meio Ambiente e Recursos Hídricos from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2011-2013).
