Mike Yao holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mining Engineering from Anhui University of Science and Technology, as well as both a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Rock Mechanics from the University of Nottingham. Since immigrating to Canada in 1995, Mike has gained extensive experience in mining engineering across several companies, including roles as Chief Mine Engineer and Chief Ground Control Engineer. Currently, Mike serves as the Manager of Rock Engineering for North Atlantic Operations at Vale and is a director of the Canadian Rock Engineering Society (RES) for CIM.
