Nathaniel Cartagena has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and responsibilities. Nathaniel began their career as a Community Coordinator at Michigan Technological University, where they excelled in organizing campus-wide events, managing budgets, and serving as a liaison between student and professional staff. Their outstanding performance earned him the Program of the Year Award in 2010-2011. Nathaniel then joined Mindovo as a Fellow before transitioning to the role of Advisor and subsequently Senior Advisor. Nathaniel joined Greenleaf Health Inc. in 2018 as the Director of IT Services, where they contributed to the organization's IT operations for three years. Currently, Nathaniel holds the position of Chief Information Officer at Validant, a role they assumed in July 2021.

Nathaniel Cartagena completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics (Secondary Education) from Michigan Technological University, where they studied from 2007 to 2012. In 2009, they also pursued a Spanish Minor at the USAC Center in Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

In addition to their formal education, Nathaniel has obtained several certifications. In December 2022, they acquired the IT Information Library Foundations Certification (ITIL) from PeopleCert. In May 2021, they became an Apple Certified Support Professional 11, certified by Apple. Furthermore, in April 2018, they completed the G Suite Administrator Fundamentals certification offered by Coursera.
