Paul Bidanset

Chief of Automated Valuation Models (AVMs) at ValueBase

Paul Bidanset has a diverse range of work experience. Paul started their career as a Market Research Analyst and Project Management role at Issues & Answers Network, Inc. from April 2010 to March 2012. Paul then worked as a Statistician/Real Estate CAMA Modeler Analyst for the City of Norfolk from March 2012 to August 2017. During this time, they also served as a Fellow at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy from June 2015 to June 2016.

In September 2017, they joined the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) as a Valuation Research Manager. Paul held this position until March 2021, concurrently working as an Adjunct Professor of Economics at Regent University from October 2017.

From October 2019 to June 2020, Bidanset worked as a Doctoral Fellow at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. Paul then went on to become a Short Term Consultant at The World Bank from March 2021.

In January 2023, they began working as the Chief of Automated Valuation Models (AVMs) at ValueBase. Additionally, since March 2013, they have been functioning as the Chief Data Scientist at revalue.io.

Most recently, Bidanset founded the Center for Appraisal Research and Technology in April 2021. This non-profit think tank is dedicated to advancing the accuracy, scalability, equitability, and availability of appraisals worldwide through research, data science, and global conversation.

Paul Bidanset completed their education chronologically as follows:

From 2006 to 2009, Paul Bidanset attended James Madison University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Economics and German.

Following this, from 2009 to 2013, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Economics from Old Dominion University.

In 2012, Paul obtained the certification in Fundamentals of Real Property Appraisal from the International Association of Assessing Officers.

In 2013, they obtained another certification, Spatio-temporal Methods in Mass Appraisal, from the International Property Tax Institute.

In 2014, Paul Bidanset completed The Data Scientist's Toolbox certification from Coursera Verified Certificates.

Lastly, they are currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Real Estate Valuation at Ulster University, which they started in 2015 and is expected to complete in 2023.
