Albert Chan began their career in 2000 with Ericsson as an Advanced Development and Research intern for the summer. In 2001, they interned at Agere Systems as a Wireless Systems Researcher. In 2004, they joined Vanu, Inc. as a Communications Engineer, where they worked with LTE, CDMA (IS-95, 1xRTT, EV-DO), GSM, EDGE, iDEN, and WiMAX waveforms. In this role, they designed, optimized, and analyzed novel physical-layer and MAC-layer algorithms and protocols for wireless communication systems.
Albert Chan completed their education with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2004. Prior to that, they earned their S.M. in Electrical Engineering from the same institution in 1999. Albert began their education at the University of Toronto, graduating with a B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering in 1997.
