John Spence has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, beginning with a service in HM Forces (REME) from 1979 to 1992 where various roles were undertaken. Following military service, John worked as an Offshore Service Technician at ABB Vetco Gray Ltd. in 1996 and then held positions such as Offshore Supervisor/Team Leader and Offshore WOCS Operator at Kvaerner Oilfield Products A.S. from 2000 to 2007. John progressed to roles as a Subsea Supervisor at BP (2015-2017) and Senior Subsea Engineer positions at ConocoPhillips (2017-2021) and Shell (2021-2024). Additional significant experience includes serving as a Senior Subsea Advisor at Norske Shell from 2007 to 2015 and currently as a Senior Subsea Engineer at Vår Energi since February 2025.
