Nicholas Katzer

Process Engineer

Nicholas Katzer is a graduate student researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, focusing on synthesizing new organometallic ligand sets to investigate fundamental trends in f-block structure and bonding, particularly in high oxidation state transuranic complexes, under the guidance of advisor Polly Arnold. Previous experience includes serving as a graduate student instructor for various chemistry courses and holding multiple leadership positions in Tau Beta Pi. Nicholas contributed as a founding member at Riviera Robotics and completed a process engineering internship at Apeel Sciences, optimizing sustainable processes for bio-derived molecule isolation. As a research assistant at the University of California, San Diego, Nicholas worked on fabricating and analyzing polymer surface interfaces for lithium metal batteries. Currently, Nicholas holds the position of process engineer at Varda Space Industries. Education includes a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego and ongoing work towards a PhD in Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley.
