Peter Orth

Peter Orth is an accomplished scientist currently serving as Principal Scientist at Varda Space Industries, where responsibilities include directing a biologics lab. Prior to this role, Peter held the position of Director of Structural Biology at Proteovant Therapeutics, establishing external collaborations and overseeing a team of 12 full-time equivalents. Peter's extensive experience at MSD Merck Sharp & Dohme A.G. as a Principal Scientist involved directing the X-ray lab and supervising a successful portfolio leading to multiple therapeutic candidates. At Schering-Plough Research Institute, Peter supervised structural biology efforts for protease inhibitor programs. Early in their career, Peter gained valuable experience as a Postdoctoral Scientist at both Sanofi and Freie Universität Berlin, where significant work included solving the crystal structure of photosystem II. Peter holds a Ph.D. in protein crystallography from Freie Universität Berlin and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemistry from Lomonosov Moscow State University.
