Michael Junger

Head of Medical Device & Process Engineering at Vaxxas

Michael Junger is the current head of medical device and process engineering at Vaxxas. Michael is responsible for the design of the product for clinical and commercial use as well as the scale up manufacture. The product is comprised of the projection array, packaging solutions and the applicator device for patch application. The production of this product uses many unique manufacturing processes and solutions and presents an opportunity to drive next generation medical device technology and prevent the loss of many lives worldwide.

Prior to their current position, Junger was the manager of women’s health engineering at Cook Medical. Michael supervised a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to develop processes, media formulations, and equipment to improve IVF outcomes. Michael also investigated new technologies to enable improved cell culture and embryo diagnosis. Michael's early years at Cook were spent designing and implementing new manufacturing processes and equipment as well as the re-design of devices to allow competitive manufacture. Automated vision systems, QC, and automation of manual process steps were all employed to improve productivity and reduce costs.
