Thomas Bierhals

Thomas Bierhals has extensive work experience in the field of information security and corporate security. Thomas is currently serving as the Chief Information Security Officer at Uhlmann Group since January 2021. Prior to that, they were the Head of Information Security and Corporate Security at VDE Verband der Elektrotechnik Elektronik Informationstechnik e.V. starting from October 2018.

From November 2014 to September 2018, Thomas worked at Standard Life Aberdeen where they held the position of IT Security and IT Compliance Officer. During this time, they managed the complete IT infrastructure, led projects related to IT outsourcing and data center migration, and was responsible for crisis management and audits.

Before joining Standard Life Aberdeen, Thomas served as the CISO at Mannheimer Versicherung AG from November 2008 to October 2014. Prior to that, they worked at IMD GmbH - IT Operation Mannheimer Versicherung as the Manager of Network and Internet Services from February 2001 to November 2008.

Thomas started their career as an IT Coordinator at Sparkasse Rhein Neckar Nord from January 1997 to February 2000.

Thomas Bierhals obtained their Master of Business Administration - MBA degree with a specialization in Business Information Systems from Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society, where they studied from 2006 to 2009. Prior to that, from 2004 to 2007, they received a certification as a Certified IT Business Manager from IHK, with a focus on IT-Projektmanagement and Wirtschaftswissenschaften.

In addition, Thomas Bierhals has obtained multiple certifications in various fields. These include certifications such as BSI IT-Grundschutz Praktiker from TÜV NORD GROUP, CISA, CISM, CISSP, CRISC, Certiefied Data Protection Officer (CDPO) from PECB, Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control™ (CRISC) from ISACA, ISO27001 Foundation from APMG International, ISO27001 Lead Auditor from PECB, ISO27001 Practioner from APMG International, and ISO27032 Lead Cyber Security Manager from PECB.
