Derek Best has over 10 years of work experience in the IT industry. Derek is currently working as a Team Lead in IT Tech Support at Vecima Networks Inc. Prior to this, Derek worked at Cameco Corporation for 9 years, starting as a Technical Support Analyst II and eventually becoming a Senior Technical Support Analyst. During their time at Cameco, they managed and supervised summer students within Client Services, ensuring their targets were met. Before their time at Cameco, Derek worked as a Technical Services Specialist at Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority, where they were responsible for setting up and deploying new computers and worked on the Casino Management System project team.

Derek Best attended Saskatoon Business College from 2011 to 2012, studying Network and System Administration. In 2011, they also obtained the CompTIA A+ certification and in 2012, they received several Microsoft certifications including Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Microsoft Certified Professional, and Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate.
