TECHNICAL DIRECTOR at Vector Atomic

Andrew Dowd has worked in a variety of roles in the technology industry since 2000. Andrew began their career at The MathWorks as a DSP Development Engineer, where they were eventually promoted to Software Development Manager. In 2004, they became the Chief Engineer at KERNCO, INC, where they led a cross-functional group of engineers, physicists and technicians in the development of miniature, low-power atomic clocks for the US Air Force and Navy. In 2008, they moved to Symmetricom (now Microsemi) as a Senior Engineering Development Manager, where they were responsible for developing technology products for the precision time and frequency market and oversaw the development of a new embedded timing capability. In 2018, they joined Arizona Optical Systems as an Associate Director of Electronics, managing the electronics team and tasked with designing and delivering a new remote sensing instrument. In 2019, they began working at Vector Atomic as a Technical Director, with the goal of creating the next generation of quantum sensors. Andrew also began working at the University of Arizona - Department of Physics as a Senior FPGA Design Engineer, creating custom RTL modules for Altera/Intel FPGAs. Finally, from 2011 to 2019, they worked at Lithe Technology, LLC as the Chief Technology Officer, providing technical expertise to numerous research and commercial projects.

Andrew Dowd obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona.
