Shaina Raza

Shaina Raza, PhD, is an accomplished Applied Machine Learning Scientist at Vector Institute, specializing in Responsible AI since January 2023. Prior to this role, Shaina held various research positions, including AI4PH Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, and CIHR Health Systems Impact Fellow at Public Health Ontario. Shaina has extensive experience in machine learning and natural language processing, having worked as a Scientific Managing Editor at Elsevier and contributed as a Machine Learning Engineer at AI HealthLink. Additionally, Shaina has engaged in multiple research assistant roles at Ryerson University, MedCurrent Corporation, and Summery, Inc., focusing on recommender systems and retrieval systems. Shaina obtained a PhD in Computer Science from Toronto Metropolitan University and completed a post-doctorate fellowship in Artificial Intelligence and Public Health at the University of Toronto.
