Senior Director, Solution Strategy at VelocityEHS

Rick Barker, CPE, CSP has over 30 years of work experience in various roles related to ergonomics, safety management, and solution strategy. Rick is currently serving as the Senior Director of Solution Strategy at VelocityEHS, where they lead a team providing expertise in innovation, product development, marketing, and customer consultation. Prior to this, Rick held the position of Principal Solution Strategist at VelocityEHS, where they were responsible for thought leadership, vision, and technical content related to EHS and ESG software, as well as collaborating with ML/AI teams.

Before joining VelocityEHS, Rick worked at Humantech - A VelocityEHS solution for over 12 years as a Senior Technical Manager in Ergonomics. In this role, they mentored internal staff, provided content for software offerings, improved consulting tools/processes, and delivered consultative and training services to clients on safety management systems, ergonomics, human performance, and human factors.

Rick also worked at Inteva Products as a Corporate Ergonomist, where they developed and implemented a global ergonomics program, created policies, procedures, and design guidelines, and supported manufacturing and new product development efforts. Prior to that, they worked at Hill Rom as a Solutions Marketing Manager/Director, creating marketing content, supporting new product development, providing sales engineering support, and creating safety program management materials and services.

Rick's earlier work experience includes roles at Arthur D. Little, where they managed consulting services and contracts related to human factors and ergonomics, and at Joyce Institute, Humantech, and Unisys, where they worked as an Ergonomics Engineer and Consultant. Throughout their career, Rick has been dedicated to promoting ergonomics, safety, and providing strategic solutions for companies.

Rick Barker, CPE, CSP has a Master's degree in Entrepreneurship and Emerging Technology from Miami University, obtained in 2024. Rick also holds an MA in Experimental Psychology: Human Factors from the University of Dayton, obtained from 1987 to 1989. In addition, they have a BS degree from Andrews University, completed from 1983 to 1987. Rick obtained certifications such as Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) from BCPE in 1995 and Certified Security Professional (CSP) from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals in 2019. Rick also obtained various certifications in digital marketing and patient handling throughout their career.
