David Bate

David joined Velocys as General Counsel and Head of Legal & Compliance in March 2021.

David was formerly General Counsel for Schlumberger’s Production Management division where he was responsible for all aspects of legal support to the group’s upstream asset portfolio. His work covered M&A, business development, risk and project management, development financing, and other regulatory matters.

David’s 25+ year oil and gas career has encompassed roles in several large-cap and AIM-listed global energy businesses, including ENI, Enterprise Oil, Chevron, Anadarko, Valiant Petroleum, and E.ON and he has extensive experience in establishing and managing legal functions, compliance, and corporate governance as well as expertise in M&A and the negotiation and application of commercial agreements relevant to the energy industry, project financings, transportation, marketing and sales, and other aspects of the supply chain and dispute resolution.
