Chris Nelson

Chris Nelson has extensive work experience in the field of instrumentation and electrical engineering. Chris is currently working as an Assistant I/E Engineer at Venator Materials Plc since 2022.

Prior to this, Chris worked at Petrofac for a duration of 9 years from 2013 to 2022. During their time at Petrofac, they held various roles including Instrument Team Leader, where they were responsible for planning and prioritizing routine maintenance work, creating permits, carrying out risk assessments, and providing breakdown cover to the production team. Chris also represented the instrument department in various meetings. Before being promoted to the role of Instrument Team Leader, they worked as a Lead Instrument Technician.

Before joining Petrofac, Chris gained experience as an HLET Shift Instrument/Electrical Technician at Sahaviriya Steel Industries PCL in 2013.

Chris also worked at Huntsman as an Instrument Technician from 2011 to 2013, where they gained experience in trip testing, calibrations, routine maintenance, commissioning, and fault finding. Chris worked with modern instrumentation, Taylor Mod300 DCS systems, Foundation Fieldbus, and Emerson Delta V operator interface. Chris was also involved in SIL assessments and SIL procedure creation and modification.

Chris started their career as an Instrument Apprentice at TTE Technical Training Group in 2007 and worked there for two years, gaining foundational knowledge and skills in instrumentation.

Prior to their apprenticeship, Chris worked as an Instrument Technician (I/E Tech) at Lucite International from 2009 to 2011. During this time, they gained experience in calibrations, trip testing, routine maintenance, breakdowns, fault finding, cubicle entry training, and permit to work issuing.

Chris Nelson began their education at Stokesley School in 2002 and completed their studies there in 2007. Following the completion of high school, they attended Redcar and Cleveland College from 2007 to 2009, obtaining a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Instrumentation and Control. From 2007 to 2011, they also studied at TTE, where they earned an NVQ Level 3 in Instruments and Control. Finally, from 2009 to 2011, Chris attended Teesside University, where they obtained an HNC (Higher National Certificate) in Instrumentation and Control.
