Gilbert Chua has extensive work experience in the finance industry. Gilbert is currently the Head of Risk Management Strategy at Venerable since June 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Goldman Sachs for over 15 years. At Goldman Sachs, they held various roles, including CIMD Portfolio Manager, FICC Head of US Liquid Products Structuring & Strategy, and FICC Interest Rate Products Trading. In these roles, they managed cross asset investment strategies, generated revenue through strategic and tactical idea generation, and traded mortgage options and European swaptions. Before joining Goldman Sachs, Gilbert worked at Citigroup as a Quantitative Research and Trading Program Analyst, where they priced European swaptions and contributed to a weekly strategy publication.
Gilbert Chua earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where they studied from 1999 to 2003. During the same period, they also attended The Wharton School where they earned a B.S. degree in Finance and Accounting. In 2006, Gilbert became a CFA Charterholder after completing the certification program offered by the CFA Institute. Additionally, they hold certifications in Series 3, 4, 7, 24, and 63, issued by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Gilbert has also completed a Machine Learning course from Coursera, although the specific dates of completion are not available.
